Senior Structural Engineer – SA

FMG Engineering is a very well-known and highly regarded multi-disciplinary National Engineering Consultancy providing services and solutions to the development, property and urban infrastructure sectors. With offices in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, we employ over 160 staff, comprising engineers, scientists, technicians, and support staff.

About the role: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the structural design and analysis of a variety of projects, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of work, managing client relationships, and contributing to the development of the team’s technical expertise.


  • Lead and oversee the structural engineering design and analysis for projects from conception to completion
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations
  • Collaborate with other engineers, architects, builders, designers, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects meet the client’s needs and expectations
  • Prepare project reports, specifications, and construction documents
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior team members
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects
  • Perform structural analysis and design utilising software tools such as Microstran, SPACE GASS, Coldsteel, CORD, RAPT & TEDDS
  • Prepare project cost estimates and quotations

As the ideal candidate you will have: 

  • University degree qualifications in structural engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years of structural engineering consultancy design experience
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Demonstrated experience within Australia of commercial building structural engineering design
  • Demonstrated experience of successful project management
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with a variety of people including builders, architects and clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
