Associate Structural Engineer – NSW

FMG Engineering is a very well-known and highly regarded multi-disciplinary National Engineering Consultancy providing services and solutions to the development, property and urban infrastructure sectors. With offices in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane we employ over 160 staff, comprising engineers, scientists, technicians, and support staff.

About the role: 

We’re expanding our team and are currently seeking a highly skilled Associate Structural Engineer to fill a vital role within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the structural design and analysis of a wide range of projects. Regardless of the project’s size or scope, whether it is a simple task or a complex assignment, we’re looking for someone consistent who excels in delivering high-quality work, showing superior professionalism and dedication with every project handled.

Requirements:

  • Lead and oversee the structural engineering design and analysis for projects from conception to completion
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations
  • Collaborate with other engineers, architects, builders, designers, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects meet the client’s needs and expectations
  • Prepare project reports, specifications, and construction documents
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects
  • Perform structural analysis and design utilising software tools such as Microstran, SPACE GASS, Coldsteel, CORD, RAPT & TEDDS
  • Proposal and quotation preparation, including determining fees and the engagement of subcontractors

As the ideal candidate you will have: 

  • University degree qualifications in structural engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years of structural engineering consultancy design experience
  • Chartered Engineer status (desired)
  • Demonstrated experience within Australia of commercial building structural engineering design
  • Drafting skills (advantageous but not mandatory)
  • Demonstrated experience of successful project management
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with a variety of people including builders, architects and clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
