2026 Employee of the Year

Competition for FMG’s 2026 Employee of the Year title was truly inspiring, showcasing the remarkable achievements across the company. Each nominee, put forward by their peers, exemplifies excellence – Championing teamwork, ethics and respect, flexibility, commitment and technical expertise.

It was a tight race with a narrow margin between our top 3 contenders. However, “in the end there can be only one”.  Drum roll please….

Winner.  CONGRATULATIONS Brad McLeod, Senior Air Quality Scientist.

Brad exemplifies the true “One Team” spirit, consistently making decisions that benefit the broader business. He has been instrumental in integrating the EnviroScan acquisition into the Enviro team, drawing on support from across the business while training others to build long-term capability. His professionalism and respect are evident in every client interaction – his communication is clear, courteous and highly regarded. Brad never turns down a request for help, willingly adjusting his hours and workload to meet demands. He delivers results without fail, meeting project deadlines, supporting fieldwork and maintaining strong alignment with FMG’s goals. His deep technical knowledge, particularly in Air Quality, was shared openly with others, helping to upskill the team and ensure continuity during his parental leave.

Runner Up. CONGRATULATIONS Basel Said, Forensic Engineer

Basel consistently demonstrates his exceptional dedication, technical skill and commitment to teamwork. Over recent months, he has taken on numerous urgent jobs without hesitation, often going above and beyond, even when at capacity, to support his colleagues and meet client deadlines.

Basel’s outstanding technical capability was particularly evident in a recent project involving over 32 units, which he successfully completed within seven days. He consistently delivers high-quality forensic analysis with precision and professionalism, all while maintaining a calm and positive approach. Basel is also committed to mentoring and guiding others, generously sharing his expertise to strengthen the broader team.

He embodies the spirit of collaboration, working seamlessly with builders, consultants and clients, to achieve timely outcomes and uphold FMG’s standards of excellence. Basel’s reliability, integrity and respect in every interaction make him a truly deserving recipient of this recognition

Third Place. CONGRATULATIONS Jon North, Senior Civil Designer

Jon is an invaluable team member within the SA Civil & national Aquatics department. Jon has seamlessly taken on Aquatics work and consistently goes above and beyond (often working at night and on weekends) to manage complex projects such as the Gouger Street redevelopment, while still meeting all other deliverables. His commitment, reliability and high-quality work under demanding conditions have been essential to meeting critical deadlines.
