Haigh’s set FMG Engineering’s Structural team the task of designing and documenting the factory’s 1,400 m2 concrete floor, without joints and to be completed in a single pour.
A challenge achieved using Dramix steel fibre concrete reinforcement, in combination with conventional reinforcing mesh.
Haigh’s will not only never have to worry about maintaining joints in their floor but also the smooth finish facilitates easy cleaning throughout the factory, decreasing cleaning time and increasing chocolate production and serviceability.
FMG, with assistance from Kohler Drafting Services, also carried out the structural design of the steel towers, silo platforms and pipe racking, undertook minor strengthening of the existing building structure and coordinated shop drawings for the whole production line.
