Constructed above one of Adelaide’s busiest roads, the South Road Superway is a 4.8 km, multi-lane, non-stop roadway featuring 2.5 km of raised road platforms – one of the longest in Australia and South Australia’s first.
With our 48 hour turn around on all compaction control testing and geotechnical advice during the construction of the Superway, our client experienced no hold-ups on site – keeping the project on track.
The low bearing capability of the soft soils in the area had the potential to disrupt construction, as there was a risk the ground would not support the equipment required. Collaboration between FMG & GHD allowed for the design of specialised platforms that would ensure the cranes and piling rig could be used safely during construction– making it possible for our client to proceed without undue delay costs.
